What is Echo of Malphas?
Echo of Malphas is the uber version of the main boss that you’ll encounter in the new Season 3 questline. This level 100 powered-up Malphas can only be fought in World Tier 4 after surviving the initial challenges presented in the Vault of the Loom. Note that due to the difficulty of the fight, we recommend taking on Echo of Malphas only once you reach level 100 and are equipped with a great, if not the best, build you can.
Echo of Malphas is a demon who resides in the Loom, a mysterious device that can create constructs, which are mechanical beings infused with demonic essence. Malphas has twisted the Loom to his cruel whims and has created an army of constructs that threaten Sanctuary. You must stop him before he unleashes his ultimate creation: the Herald of Malphas, a colossal construct that can destroy entire cities.
How to Summon Echo of Malphas?
Before you can challenge Echo of Malphas, you will need to first obtain key objects that are used to unlock a door found within the Descent. These are scattered across four different Gateways, which lead you to an instance of the other Vaults that you have traveled to during the Seasonal Campaign.
After going through each Gateway, fighting your way through enemies, and surviving for 30 seconds in a sealed room, you will find a key object. All 4 of these key objects must be brought back to the Descent and placed on the correct Pedestal, which will open up the gate that leads to Echo of Malphas.
To enter the Vault of the Loom, you must also offer 7 Igneous Cores and 250 Shattered Stones to the Corrupted Altar inside the first area of the dungeon. Igneous Cores can be obtained by defeating Sons of Malphas and Heralds of Malphas in World Tier 4, while Shattered Stones are easily acquired by defeating Constructs.
How to Defeat Echo of Malphas?
Echo of Malphas has only one basic attack, which is to hurl spinning blades that will deal damage to you or your companions if they hit you. However, he is still deadly because of his ability to summon Conduits, which each have their own element. These Conduits will continuously unleash attacks based on their element, such as fireballs, lightning bolts, ice shards, and poison clouds.
There are two ways for you to take out Echo of Malphas, which is to either attack him straightforwardly while avoiding his traps until he is defeated or to destroy his Conduits. While it is possible to take him out easily by attacking him continuously and dodging the attacks from the Conduits, some players find it easier to take out the Conduits first.
If you decide to go for the Conduits, you can destroy them to reduce the amount of damage you take and focus on Echo of Malphas when there are none active. You can also stun Echo of Malphas by dealing enough damage to him, which will deactivate all the active Conduits for a short time.
What Loot Can You Get from Echo of Malphas?
Echo of Malphas drops a variety of loot, depending on your luck and difficulty level. Some of the possible loot are:
- Raiment of the Infinite, a legendary set that grants bonuses to your construct damage and survivability.
- Paingorger’s Gauntlets, a legendary glove that increases your damage against constructs and reduces damage taken from them.
- Banished Lord’s Talisman, a legendary amulet that gives you a chance to summon a construct ally when you kill an enemy.
- Vault of the Loom, a legendary ring that allows you to enter the Vault of the Loom without offering any materials to the Corrupted Altar.
- Governing Stones and Tuning Stones, which can be used to enhance your Seneschal Companion, a new construct companion that you can unlock in Season 3.
- Gold, Obols, Uniques, and other rare to high-quality items.
Echo of Malphas is a challenging but rewarding boss that you can face in Diablo 4 Season 3. By following this guide, you can prepare yourself for the fight and claim the loot that he guards.
